For the past 45 years, The Academy of Adventure Gaming Arts and Design has presented the Origin Awards to acknowledge excellence in game design and to reward companies and designers for their work in the hobby industry. Having been nominated by the Academy Jury, the members then vote for their chosen winners. Additionally, attendees at the Origins Game Fair examine and play the nominated games and then vote for the Fan Favorite Award in each category. The winners will be announced on 15th June 2019. Here's a rundown of two of the main categories, best board game and best card game. For the full list of nominees, head over to the Origins Fair website.
It's great to see Cryptid and Dark Souls: The Card Game with nominations, as these were two of my favourites from last year. However, my actual predictions for the winners of these two categories are Root for best board game and The Mind for best card game (in terms of design and originality, these two are streets ahead imo!)
